ROW80 2012 Round 1

Row 80 Logo

Join the fun and show your pride.

If you haven’t caught the buzz yet, ROW80 is a writing support system that’s an alternative to NaNoWriMo, FastDraft, the First Draft in 30 Days method, and all the other “vomit the words on the paper and clean it up later” systems.

ROW80 is a team of writers who set their own goals, keeping in mind they have lives and families. Goals can be as small or as lofty as one desires. My goal is 100 words a day, in any form. See? Small and very achievable. I’ve had this goal for some time now, and always manage to exceed it. It keeps just enough pressure on me to write, but not so much that I get stressed out.

In addition to my 100 words a day in any genre goal, these are other personal goals I’ve set:

  • Edit two pages of my WIP each day.
  • Comment on at least three blogs each week.
  • Exercise every day. I do a different routine each day, some days cardio, some days yoga, some days strength.

I’ll be posting my progress every Wednesday and Sunday, right here on this page, thanks to the brilliant idea of ROWer and fellow teacherwriter Bridgette Booth.

If you want to join in the fun, drop by the ROW80 blog to find out all the details. The first ROW80 of 2012 begins January 2.

Four Days Left in this Round!

We’re in the home stretch, folks. I’ve been bogged down in report cards, grading essays, and critiquing manuscripts for a contest. Therefore, not much writing of my own has been born. This week I’m determined to push past all the stacks of paper on my teacher desk, reach down to my laptop keyboard, and create some new ideas for my next WIP. May the force be with all the Round 1 ROWers!

Sunday, March 11 Almond Festival Check in

Today is the annual Almond Festival in the beautiful Capay Valley in Yolo County of Northern California. Its stunning landscape makes an unforgettable backdrop for the festivities each year. Rain or sun, it’s never a disappointing day. Here’s a link to photos in the Sacramento Bee of the glorious valley. I’m so lucky. I get to teach there, and enjoy the scenery every day as I drive to school.

I volunteered to help the PTA make snow cones and cotton candy. Don’t be fooled the next time you go to a carnival and watch a person making cotton candy. It’s far more difficult than it looks. All that lacy spun sugar wanted to fly away in the wind this morning, and most of the cotton candy I made looked like mutant Spanish moss. The kids were mostly polite and agreed to pay half price for a decidedly unique product. Only one girl appeared to be afraid of the concoction. I ate that one. :-)

Now, on to my goals.

  • Writing 100 words a day. Check! I managed 1142.
  • Commenting on blogs. Check! I commented on more than ten, less than twenty. (I didn’t keep an accurate count. Again.)
  • Exercise every day. Ahem. Does spinning my arms around a cotton candy machine count as exercise? I guess not. I did work out on Thursday and Friday, but not Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s a cheer to all the ROWers who are smashing through their goals, and here’s another cheer to those who aren’t but are still hanging in with us in this round. Cheer! Cheer! Here’s the linky list with everyone’s sites.

Wednesday, March 7 Check in, Rolling Again

Here it is, mid-week, and I am finally getting back into the swing of things.

  • I’ve been commenting on blogs, but I’ve lost count of how many. Yeah, that’s how many. I’ve been doing it on different computers, so I haven’t been faithful about marking it on my spreadsheet.
  • I began revising a manuscript of a time travel story I finished two years ago. I had no idea it was so old. I pulled it out and started reading and instantly went into the walk of shame. How did I ever send that off to agents and editors. I can see this is going to be a huge revision job. It’s amazing how much our writing improves with time and practice. The proof is there, if you pull out an old manuscript.
  • I’m back to exercising. I got in a bit of yoga or strength training every day. Tonight is boot camp night again.

How are you doing? Are you pumped up for the last two weeks of this round? Here’s the linky list to cheer one another on to the finish.

Sunday, March 4 Check in on a Sunny Day

Okay, I’ll have to admit, I’ve been playing around. Yesterday, I cleaned up my house, squared away my laundry, went out for sushi and then saw a movie. We saw The Woman in Black. Trust me, if you haven’t seen it, don’t waste your money. It’s on a par with the scary stories I used to make up and tell my friends at slumber parties and bonfire parties. Very predictable and not scary at all, unless you count the music blaring and giving you a jolt.

Today, I worked on a webpage task for my writing group, read cookbooks, then grocery shopped. BevMo is having a 5 cent wine sale, so of course my DH and I had to go there, too.

Although the weekend has been a bust as far as writing goes, it’s been recuperative for me. I’m in the Winter season of my writing cycle where I’m mulling over ideas, and deciding if I want to start a new story or just focus on editing one that’s already finished  and sitting in my files. Since Wednesday, I chowed on Girl Scout cookies and wrote my Friday blog post at Honey Creek Books about it. After I finish writing this update and visiting the blogs of fellow ROWers, I’ll be making a Grasshopper Milkshake with my remaining Thin Mint cookies. You know Spring is here when you see all those colored boxes of cookies!

As for my goals. Ahem.

  1. Write 100 words a day. Check.
  2. Edit two pages a day. No Check. Since I finished my manuscript and sent it off earlier this week, I’m not editing at the moment. I’m not getting rid of the goal just yet, however, because I’m fairly certain I’ll start editing the other ms this week.
  3. Comment on three blogs a week. Check. This goal is ridiculously low, so I might have to up it to three blogs a day, which is more in line with what I’m doing.
  4. Exercise every day. No Check. I exercised on Thursday and Saturday, doing both yoga and boot camp workouts. I missed Friday, mostly because I drank a glass of wine with dinner and that was the end of my motivation for the day.

That’s it for now. I hope you’re doing well on your goals, and if you’re not, I hope you’re still being kind to yourself. I’m off to the linky list now to see what everyone else in this blog hop is doing. Ciao for now!

Hippity Hop, It’s Leap Day #ROW80 Check in

Yes, I’ve missed three check ins! We had a family emergency which took precedence over everything else. Something like that will put everything on the back burner that doesn’t directly connect to the ones you love. During our crisis, I didn’t do any blogging, but I had a few posts already in the queue. I didn’t get around to comment on blogs, and I didn’t exercise other than walking. However, we spent endless hours on airplanes and in airports, so I was able to finish my edits on my hard copy of my novel. Now, our life is getting back to normal, and hopefully we’ve weathered our crisis.

In good news, I finished the novel, and I’m sending it off into the world today, crossing my fingers and blowing a kiss after it. Buena suerta, little manuscript!

How did you do this week? I’m heading out to the linky list to visit all the other ROWers now. (If you’re just stopping in for the first time, yes, this is a blog hop.) Happy Leap Year Day everyone, and I hope the extra day is an excellent one for you.

Cheers!

Sunday, February 12, #ROW80 Check in

After doing all that editing, I ended up with eye strain, so I’ve been taking it easy the last few days to let my eyes recover.

  • Editing and writing: I printed out the hard copy of my manuscript, and I’m working on the second round of edits, little by little.
  • Workouts: I did my regular workouts and on Thursday, had a special treat. We had two Army Sergeants and a Deputy Sheriff work out with our fifth grade class. They made the kids do shuttle runs, jumping jacks, push ups, and run a mile. The kids were totally motivated, even when the sergeants called them “momsies.” Too cute!
  • Blog comments: Definitely spot on there, even with the eye strain.

I hope you’re having a great week! Check out the blog hop linky list to see what everyone else is doing.

Wednesday, February 8, #ROW80 Check in Editing Complete!

Hi everyone! I hope your week has gone swimmingly well. If you don’t swim, just put in a different adjective. :-)

This week I was under a tight deadline to finish a first round of edits. I was so deep into the edits I didn’t even post a check in on Sunday. I realized my omission on Monday. Oopsie! But believe me when I say I was working hard.

  • Writing: Because I’m editing, I’m not adding too many words. My daily average for the year is 363, well above my goal of 100.
  • Workouts: Yep. Still happening. In fact, I’m getting stronger. In boot camp last night, I actually came in first place in one sprint, something that’s never happened to me before in my life!
  • Blogs: I commented on thirteen blogs, visited countless others. I’ve made some fab new friends this round, too.

Thanks everyone for visiting! Here’s the blog hop linky to visit everyone else!

Wednesday, February 1, #ROW80 Check in What to Name the Car?

Here we are, already in February. The month of January vaporized before my eyes. I did alright on the goals the last few days, but it wasn’t perfect. Writing: I did write at least 100 words a day. My monthly average is 257 per day. Mind you, I’m editing, not creating, right now.

Blogs: I commented on 17 blogs. I had to slow down a bit, so I could get my own work done.

Workouts: I didn’t work out last night. (insert frownie face) Instead, I took a much needed nap.

It was fun to discover I received the Irresistibly Sweet Blog award this week.

My DD still hasn’t come up with a name for her Dodge Challenger. Any ideas for names? Her last car, a Charger, was named Jezebel.

Here’s the linky list to cheer other ROWers on about their goals.

Sunday, January 29, #ROW80 Check in A Bit Late, But I’m Here!

As if last week wasn’t enough, it gets better. I won’t go into details here, but our lives are getting crazier by the day around here.

Fun stuff: We went car shopping with my daughter and she bought a new Dodge Challenger. What a fabulous car!

I went to my writing group’s Saturday meeting and had a great time with my fellow wordsmiths.

Not so fun stuff: Today is full of laundry and errands and now, finally writing.

Goals: This week I’ve managed to keep up with the editing, adding more than my goal of 100 words each day. That’s good, since editing often results in a negative word balance. I worked out three days, but missed today. Does housework count? No, I didn’t think so. :-) I’ve commented on 27 blogs since the last check in, but what I really enjoy is chatting on Twitter.

How have you done? Here’s the linky list where we all check in. See you on your blog. Thank you to everyone leaving comments. It’s very encouraging.

Wednesday, January 25, #ROW80 Check in Tired but Still Going!

Bless the person who discovered how coffee can keep us awake and how to brew it. Coffee has been my friend this week. We’ve been slammed at work, which means I’m up late at night, doing things for school just to keep my head above water. Which means not much writing got done. 200 words to be exact. I commented on 31 blogs, and worked out every day, but when I should have been writing, I was grading, writing progress report cards, and working a new project our administration decided must be done immediately. But the weekend is coming, and I’ll have blissful writing time then.

On the blog front, I posted Sunday about receiving a Fascination Award. You can still comment and enter to win. I also won another fun award from a fellow blogger, which I’ll post about next week. Then I interviewed author Lea Nolan from my YARWA group. She told one of the funniest stories about a boy’s underwear I’ve ever heard. So there are plenty of fun things going on too.

How are you doing? Here’s the linky list to check in with everyone and cheer them on.

Sunday, January 22, #ROW80 Check in Edits Away!

It’s Sunday, and I’m a bit late posting this because I’ve been slaving over edits. I’m under a deadline, so I’m working like mad trying to get to the point I should be at. Good news! I completed 13,000 words of edits, about 23 pages single spaced. In that process, I added 2,098 words to my manuscript. That’s fine, since I tend to write sparsely in the first draft, and then add the details later. I also commented on 42 blogs. But alas, I didn’t get to exercise every day. I missed two days.

On a happy note, my blog was nominated for the Fascination Award 2011. To celebrate, I’m giving away a $50 gift certificate and a $10 gift certificate. Click over to this celebration post to find out how you can be entered into the drawing!

Here’s the linky list for all the other ROWers. I’m off to do more blog commenting!

Yes! I tallied up my numbers today, and I’m groovin’ again. I’ve written 3,805 words, more than the 100 per day that is my goal. I’ve commented on 24 blogs, and I’ve met some interesting people along the way. You know who you are! I’ve reached out and made new connections, which is always exciting and fun. I exercised every day. I’m doing boot camp on Tuesday and Thursday, then yoga or dance on the other days. I even stayed away from sweets today! Maybe this holiday weight will start to come down. (I gained about five pounds in December.) Best of all, I really cracked down on editing my first chapter of my latest novel. The first chapter is always the hardest one for me to write, and I often save it for last. I think I’ve got it where I want it now. So yes, I did my editing too. I’m so stoked for these past few days. Things have gone well. How about you?

Don’t forget to check in at the linky links to see how everyone else is faring.

Sunday, January 15, #ROW80 Check in…Still ROWing!

It’s been a crazy busy week. I use that term often, but I promise, I’m not exaggerating. I must say about this week, “I get knocked down, but I get up again!”

I didn’t get any editing done. However, I did get some writing done. I stayed current on exercising every day, yes! I think that the exercise helped me maintain my sanity and got me through a cold and another infection.

I also started learning Italian. I’m proud to announce that I can say I want to eat, I want a glass of wine, and I can ask, “My place or yours?” Haha!

These next few days will be better. The full moon is past and my life is falling back into a normal routine. So even though I didn’t get much done last week, I’m still ROWing! How about you?

Here’s the linky list to check in and check with the other ROWers.

Wednesday, January 11, #ROW80 Check in

Amidst much chaos this week, I suddenly realized, “OMG, it’s Wednesday!” thanks to Mark Wilcox, @tbturbine. We were chatting on Twitter, and he mentioned he was putting up a picture his new book cover in his Wednesday check in post. Which he did. It’s pretty scary, with devil eyes in an alarm clock. I decided to get rid of my old digital clock after looking at that.

I did get to write each day, and my biggest day was Monday, in which I wrote 476 words and edited an entire scene. I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but I’m squeezing this into my day in 15 minute increments, here and there.

I also stayed on the exercise routine, and even got my DH to join me last night.

So there we are, ready to move in to the rest of the week. How are you all doing?

Here’s the latest linky list with other ROWers blog posts! They’re fun to read and comment on!

Sunday, January 8 #ROW80 Check in

Yes, it’s already Sunday. I’ve had a hectic and busy week, complete with distractions from family and work and a lovely cold someone decided to share with me. But then, who doesn’t have weeks like that? So my goals aren’t stellar, but I’m still working along.

  • Write 100 words a day: Yes, I did, except on Wednesday, when I was totally sideswiped sidetracked by life.
  • Editing: I didn’t finish two pages a day, but I did some editing every day.
  • Blog comments: I’m keeping up in this area. It’s also one of my procrastination tactics, so I have to keep a close eye on this one and not overdo it.
  • Exercise: I did it! I did exercise every day, even when my cold was giving me the smack down.

Thanks to all the support from ROWers, I’m able to keep mostly on track. I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone’s doing, so I’ll just say goodbye here and say hello on your blogs.

Click the linky list (yes, it’s a blog hop!) to see all the ROWers.

Ciao for now!

Wednesday, January 4 #ROW80 Check in

Here we are, ready for our first check in. I don’t know about you, but I’m still pumped. Of course, I’m also on winter break from my day job. That makes for a bit more energy in my day.

  • Write 100 words a day: Yep. Monday 1094, Tuesday 353
  • Editing: Double yep. Edited one scene each day, approximately 2-3 pages.
  • Blog comments: Triple yep. In fact, I’m going to have to limit myself on blog comments. I’m giving new meaning to the word chatty.
  • Exercise: Quad yep. I’ve got the sore muscles to prove it. Funny how a couple of weeks off from exercising, and you almost feel like you’re back at square one when you start again. I signed up my DH and I  for a boot camp fitness class twice a week, so that will help keep us both on track.

That’s it! Here’s the linky list where everyone is checking in. I hope to read a bunch of good news from fellow ROWers. See you on Sunday!

  1. Welcome!
Hope you have fun and find the support you need with us ;)

  2. You’re already sharing support! Thanks for the comment, Juliana.

  3. I’m on the 100 word a day goal too. Very do-able and yet very satisfying. It’s also amazing how many of us have some form of exercise on our goals. Either we’re all very athletic people (not me) or we all notice the sedate nature of writing. Happy writing.

  4. Suzanne Lilly, the TeacherWriter

    Hi Cass,

I heard of the 100 word goal about three months ago and I found it to be just enough to get me motivated, but not be overwhelming. I usually get 500-1000 words, once I start. I guess 100 is my own “test mile” to use Kait’s phrasing. Thanks for stopping by. Good luck on your goals, too!

  5. Oh, the 100 words a day goal got me through some rough writing patches, you just know you can write 100 words, and then, magically write more. It’s a perfect “test mile.”

  6. Good luck, Suzanne,

It’s good to see you in 2012. Great goals.

    Kerry

  7. You’re so right, Amy. And it’s good to see you, too, Kerry. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. I love achievable goals that you can meet AND exceed. :-) Good luck this round!

  9. Sounds very doable. I like it!

  10. Thanks, Lori and Jessica. Hopefully I’ll meet the goals. My schedule is so full, this is all I could realistically attain. Good luck to both of you, too!

  11. Sounds great. Have fun! Happy writing!

  12. Welcome, Suzanne! So thrilled to have you join up with the ROW80ers. I love this challenge. I also like it for the same reason – that you’re not just throwing words on a page, but making your own goals based on what your life is like. You’re kicking it already! Best wishes.

  13. Thanks, Julie! I try to take baby steps…that way if I fall, it doesn’t hurt so much. :-)

  14. Great beginning! Hope you have a great Round.

  15. Excellent! As we like to say around here, you’re rocking the ROW. Keep it up :)

  16. Fantastic job meeting your goals during a hectic week and whilst battling a cold.

  17. Thanks, Ashtoreth. Next week should be better.

  18. I got a sideswipped a bit this week too – but it sounds like we both did pretty good despite it – congrats!

  19. Hello, hello. Noticed you were a teacher so had to drop in and see whats up! Looks like good goals, keep up the good work!

  20. Hi Eli,

Yes, I’m an elementary teacher. I always like to connect with other teachers, too. What do you teach?

  21. Congrats on a good week! We must swap tips on blog commenting and tracking. :)

  22. Great job so far. It’s great that you’re writing and editing. Those can be tough to balance.

  23. I think it’s great that you’re setting reasonable goals that work with the rest of your life. Congrats on the exercise as well – something I could do a bit more of…

  24. I like the 100 words a day goal a lot! It’s not daunting, so you start, and then things continue. Nice :) And you seem to be doing really well with your goals! Congrats. :)

  25. “my biggest day was Monday, in which I wrote 476 words and edited an entire scene. I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but I’m squeezing this into my day in 15 minute increments, here and there.”
Squeezing that many words through a day in 15 minute increments is incredible. I know I just couldn’t do that. More power to you, cause that is awesome. Keep up the awesome writing!

    • Thank you so much! I always feel like I’m not doing enough.

  26. You’re doing great. Congrats! Keep up the good work.

  27. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! I think that’s what’s great about ROW80…everyone cheering each other onward.

  28. Baby steps :) Way to go! Wishing you the best for the upcoming week.

  29. Congrats on the acheivements!! You are doing great! Best wishes for the upcoming week!! :)

  30. Awesome job on the exercise and staying up with the writing. Love the Italian bit: food, wine and whoa!

Have a great week, Suzanne :)

  31. Raelyn, baby steps is my mantra. Thanks for the cheers, relatedreality! Gene, you voiced my husband’s sentiments exactly! He said I shouldn’t need to use that phrase, since it will be our place together.

  32. Good for you, on the exercise front.
Learning a new language is always awesome!
And keep ROWing! Have a great week!

  33. Great progress! And I love that you are learning Italian. I’ve always wanted to learn a language, and you already have the three most important phrases down. ;-)

Hope you continue to enjoy ROW80. It’s made a world of difference in my writing. But the best part is the sense of community.

    • I agree, Tia. The wonderful thing about ROW80 is finding other people to work together with toward our goals. Thanks for stopping by my check in!

  34. Great check-in (how do I say THAT in Italian?) because you met some of your goals in the midst of a crazy, full moon week. :)

Hope this week has less chaos.

  35. Bridgette, I think it’s something like, “Molto bene, ceccin!” (Don’t tell everyone, but I invented that last word.)

  36. Congrats on hitting target!

It sounds like you really have got into the swing of things despite being very busy! I envy how active you’ve been. I tend to spend a lot of time indoors. :S

  37. Congrats on hitting your goals, and even more congrats on staying away from the sweets! That is hard! Bridgette is the bomb, isn’t she? Keep up the good work!

  38. Great job this week! Keep on rocking the ROW.

  39. Great job on exceeding your word count. Keep it up:)

  40. Awesome, awesome, awesome! I love when we get to read about someone meeting their goals and then some! It’s so motivating! Keep up the good work!

  41. Congrats on smashing through your 100 words a day :)

  42. Woo hoo great week! and first on the linky too – isn’t it cool when you are the first to add your link!? lol

    • I know, isn’t that amazing? I just happened to put my post up at the right time. Usually, I’m way down the line. :-)

  43. Woot! Congratz on the nomination and for getting your edits done ;)

  44. Awesome job this week, Suzanne. Here’s hoping that the coming week is just as bright and productive :)

  45. I would certainly call that a productive week. Great job! Have a great week.

  46. I say well done for getting 200 words and all your other goals when it sounds like you’re having a week from hell.
I sometimes wish I drank coffee (most of the time), or tea, just for that caffine hit – when I need it I dose up on Cola, but it’s odd drinking it in the morning!!!

  47. Thanks for the well done, @newtowritinggirl. I felt like a loser when I posted that. My daughter drinks tea or cola for her caffeine, mornings too. So does my friend. So it doesn’t seem odd to me anymore.

  48. I agree with @newtowritinggirl. 200 words are awesome with a week like you’ve had! I bet you’re definitely looking forward to the weekend. I drink tea and cola in the morning too. LOL. My husband and sons are obsessive coffee drinkers.

I wish you a ton of rest, rejuvenation, and writing this weekend. ;)

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, too!

    Hugs!
    Dawn

  49. I’m a tea freak but my hubs adores a freshly brewed coffee n the morning to get him started. Bring me an ASSAM any day :) Listen, sounds like you have worked miracles lately and done pretty well for yourself. Take yourself some time out and begin anew. Good luck. Shah.X

    • I’m with Shah on the tea thing (especially a good ASSAM or Sencha).

What an interesting layout for your ROW80 page, Suzanne! I’m not sure it would work for me, but it seems as if you’ve made it into exactly what you need. (and you are SO much more organized… must be that “Teacher’s gene in there). Kudos!

      • I don’t feel so organized. But this way I’m keeping it all in one place, easy to follow. Thanks for the comment, my fellow ROWer and tea drinker!

  50. What a great check-in! You are really doing very well. Good job, Suzanne!!!!

  51. Best wishes for a productive weekend! ;-)

  52. @Shah I just discovered Pu’erh tea this summer, and I love it. It’s a hearty tea like Assam.

    @Dawn @Tia @Bridgette Thank you all!

  53. I try to stir away from coffee as I can drink lots and lots at once lol
Well, your job is keeping you from writing and it happens to all of us.
I hope you get lots of writing done during the weekend ;)

  54. Congrats on a successful week! Keep writing hon!

  55. You are doing so well! I love how realistic your goals are and how you’re just smashing through them. :-) keep up the great work!

  56. Great job this week, Suzanne. You know, I think laundry should be an Olympic sport or maybe Extreme Vacuuming *smile*

    Have a great week!

  57. It’s great to see you keeping well above your 100 minimum goal…and even greater to see you come in 1st on the sprint!

  58. Thank you, thank you!

  59. You are doing so well! I checked-in on Sunday, but not on Wed. oh well. At least you were immersed in edits. Keep it up!

  60. I hear you on eye strain. I keep trying to edit on the computer to save the trees, but I so prefer red ink on paper! (Plus it’s easier on my eyes). Hope your edits continue to move along but without the strain. ;-)

  61. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hope your manuscript inspires a lot of interest and offers. :)

Glad to have you back with us, Suzanne. Couldn’t agree more with going offline though to handle family life. My attention is divided when I am online with social media.

Can’t wait to read more updates next week!

  62. I hope your family emergency has settled down and all is well. Best of luck for the manuscript. I’m looking forward to hearing more…

  63. Thanks so much, Tia and Bridgette. Things have calmed down, thankfully. We’re just hoping they stay that way.

  64. I hope ideas abound during your mulling!

    • Thanks, Tia! So far, so good.

  65. Wow – sounds like you are rolling right along… I am amazed at your schedule, actually…. yowza…

When I read my old stuff – even my old published stuff – I blush with embarrassment. Did I really write like THAT?! And people actually published it and praised me for those words?!

I think its totally normal… and so we revise and continue loving the words… and the process… over and over again! Keep ROWing along!!

    • I’ve heard so many people say they’re embarrassed by earlier writing. Which leads me to this question; Do we always feel that way, perhaps even after something is published?

  66. Fabulous week! I totally agree having the small word count goal is the way to go. It gets your butt in the chair and that’s usually the biggest hurtle. All the best for the upcoming week.

    Ref: cotton candy
It’s all in the wrists :D

    • Hi Raelyn! All in the wrists, eh? I’ll remember that for next year at the Almond Festival. Too bad there’s not a cotton candy making course somewhere!

      • LOL, yeah it is. BIL picked up a machine, heaven only knows why, so there was a lot of practice :) Picture one of those ribbon dancers, you want to move your wrists as though you have a ribbon in your hand which you’re twirling to make a cone-like shape with the ribbon. At least that worked for me. Have fun!

  67. Grasshopper Milkshakes? Sounds absolutely yummy! We have a local custard shop which does a Thin Mint custard that is soooo good. Love it!

Sounds like you made a it a decent week even though you’re mulling ideas over. That’s work. It counts. :)
